Get off the beaten track and have some fun with friends, family, and the kids!  Israel offers lots of great activities for those who really love the outdoors and are a bit more adventurous at heart. You may want to include:

Snorkel and scuba dive the Red Sea

Located at the southern most point of Israel, with Eilat as the jumping off point, the crystal clear waters of the Red Sea are world renowned for their magnificent coral reefs and rich colorful sea life. Great diving, lots of sunshine, and the stark beauty of the surrounding rose granite mountains of the Sinai desert attract Israelies and tourists to the region year around.  

 

Horseback riding around Galilee and the Judean hills

Horseback riding in Israel hails back to biblical times and is a particularly wonderful way of getting off the beaten track and discovering the incredibly varied landscape of the country: From the mountains of Galilee in the north, to the hills of Judea around Jerusalem in the center, and desert canyons of the Negev in the south.  This is a great family activity for all ages.  No prior horseback riding experience is necessary. 

 

Raft down the Jordan

The narrow Jordan River is Israel’s main river and extends from the Lebanon border in the north, to the Dead Sea in the south.  The upper sections are particularly suitable for families, kids, and teenagers to safely try their hand in inflatable three-man kayaks.  No prior experience necessary.  2-3 hour activity. 

 

Cliff rappelling and rock climbing

Israel is a lot more mountainous than most people imagine, with high cliffs along the great Rift Valley that runs the whole length of the country.  Rappelling or rope descents are a great family fun activity that is easily learned on the spot and builds self confidence. 

 

Archeology:  “Dig for a Day”  

Dig and discover the past at an authentic “tel” or archeological mound.  Here’s the opportunity for all ages- kids and parents - to spend a few hours sifting, analyzing finds, and learning more about our rich biblical heritage.

 

Canyon hiking and swimming

Israel’s mountainous landscape is crisscrossed by narrow canyons and gorges that are easily accessed for great hiking and nature: Waterfalls, natural pools that you can swim in, unusual rock formations, rich plant and animal life. There are water walks for all ages – a great respite on hot summer days. 

 

Off-road jeep & ATV safaris

If you’re the kind of person that really likes to get off the beaten track and doesn’t mind the bumps of a dirt track or maneuvering between boulders, we can break up the touring with a jeep or ATV ride up in to the mountains or into the desert, to normally inaccessible springs and canyons. Usually needs at least 2-3 hours.  

 

Water Parks

·    Luna Gal: Israel’s largest water park, situated on the Sea of Galilee: Water slides, tubing, Olympic pool, pedal boats, canoeing, waterski, and other water sports.  

·    Hammat Gader: Hot Springs, outdoor, spa, Roman baths, crocodile park, trampolines, swimming pool, water slides

·    Shefaim Water Park: Water parks, go-carts, trampolines

 

Theme Parks

·    Time Tunnel: Fasten your seat belts as you dive, climb, turn, and head back in time through all the periods of Jerusalem’s long history.

·    Mini-Israel: Walk through this scaled down miniature of Israel- from snow capped Mt. Hermon in the north to the Red Sea in the south.  Israel main attractions and sites presented. 

·    Kings City: Voyage back in time to ancient Egypt and the pharaohs, biblical Israel, King Solomon’s court, and journey through the Hall of Illusions.  Eilat

·    Super Land: All kinds of great rides for the kids.  Rishon Letzion 

 

Animal Parks

·    Biblical Zoo: Jerusalem’s main zoo, beautiful park landscape, includes animals mentioned in the Bible and a visitors center build to look like Noah’s Ark.

·    Safari Park: The Tel Aviv zoo, landscaped to look like the African savannah.

·    Ostrich Farm, Kibbutz HaOn where you can observe and feed the ostriches.  Ostrich shell painting workshops

·    Hulah Bird Sanctuary: Israel is on the main bird migration route Europe, Asia, and Africa.  Many species spend the winter in the Hulah wetlands national park.  There are walkways and bird watching stations.

·    Gan Garoo: Kangaroo and Koala sanctuary with petting corner.  Located at Kibbutz Gan Hashlosha

·    Oceanarium: Underwater observatory and aquariums showing the rich coral and sea life in the Red Sea, Eilat.

·    Tzapari: Hugh bird sanctuary designed like an African village.  Hear the varied calls of the different birds, including parrots of all kinds. Ganei Yehoshua, Tel Aviv
