Background

In Jeremiah 31:3 God declares “I have loved you with an infinite world of love”.  Indeed, the Sages teach that God created the entire world as a vehicle to bestow His good and that God, who loves us, desires the relationship we have with Him. 

 

The Temple, where was the Shechinah- God’s Presence- was intimate, was a physical expression of that relationship. The Western (or “Wailing”) Wall, as an authentic remnant of the Temple complex, became the place Jewish people come to bring their written and spoken prayers before the Creator, with the faith that He listens very carefully and is attentive to our needs.   

 

How to post-a-prayer

PRAYER FOR THE SICK

It is You alone, God who has made the most exalted heaven, the earth and everything upon it, the seas and everything in them, and You who give them all life (cf. Neh. 9:6) . It is You, the Lord our God, who nourishes, sustains, and supports every living creature.  It is You who always performed miracles and great wonders with our forefathers. Our Father, the Compassionate One, Master of the Universe: You who blessed Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, may You bless and heal:

May it be Your Will, O God, that You send a speedy and complete recovery from Heaven, a total healing and strengthening of the body and of the spirit. May it come speedily, swiftly, and soon.

PRAYER FOR FRIENDS & FAMILY

We thank You, O God, for our family, for friends, and for what we mean and bring to one another. We are grateful for the bonds of loyalty and affection which sustain us, and for the capacity to love and to care.  Help us to be modest in our demands of one another, but generous in our giving to each other. May we never measure how much love or encouragement we offer; may we never count the times we forgive. Rather, may we always be grateful that we have one another and that we are able to express our love in acts of kindness.  Keep us gentle in our speech. When we offer words of criticism, may they be chosen with care and spoken softly. May we waste no opportunity to speak words of sympathy, of appreciation, of praise. Above all, grant us the wisdom to build a joyous and peaceful home in which Your spirit will always abide. 

May it be Your will O Father, Master of the Universe, to be gracious unto:

PRAYER FOR LIVELIHOOD

It is You alone, God who has made the most exalted heaven, the earth and everything upon it, the seas and everything in them, and You who give them all life (Cf. Neh. 9:6) . It is You, the Lord our God, Who nourishes, sustains, and supports every living creature.   It is You who always performed miracles and great wonders with our forefathers.  Also in the Wilderness You rained down for them food from heaven (Ex. 16:4), and from the flinty rock You withdrew water for them (Deut. 8:15), and You also provided them all their needs, and their clothing did not wear out upon them (Deut. 8:4). So in Your abundant mercy and powerful kindness, may You nourish us, sustain us, support us, and supply all our needs and the abundant needs of Your people every single day and every single hour of our lives. I beseech You, O Father, to provide sustenance and a livelihood for:

PRAYER FOR A SAFE JOURNEY

May it be Your will, O Lord, Our God, that You lead us toward peace, and make us reach our desired destination safely, in gladness and peace.  May You rescue us from the hand of every foe, ambush, bandits, and evil along the way.  May you send blessing in our every handiwork, and grant us grace, kindness, and mercy in Your eyes and in the eyes of all who see us.  May you hear our supplication, because you are God who listens to prayer.  As it is written in your Holy Bible:  "Behold I send an angel before you to protect you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared" (Exodus 23:20).  Thank you, O Lord, for this and for everything that You have given us.
